1. This month's Spirit Assembly is going to be this Friday, 5/4. The Spirit Theme for Friday is Star Wars in honor of "May the Fourth" ["be with you"]. Students should come to school in their Star Wars swag, or costumes. No weapons of course!
2. SWAG and Assessments will be due Friday per usual [check specific details about SWAG below].
3. Students will start their last Science rotation of the year with Mrs. Ashley where they will be working on Engineering and Design Unit that will culminate in a trebuchet/catapult build and competition.
4. We will be finishing my science unit, Energy and Energy Transfer, this week in class. Students need to remember to finish both research packets 1 & 2 for that unit and turn them in Friday.
5. As a part of SWAG this week, students will be responsible for writing a five-paragraph classification essay on three types of bikes. The specific details of the assignment are posted below.
6. There will be no spelling this week.
7. Family Math Night is going to be held at OPE next Thursday the 10th, from 6:00PM-7:30PM. Teachers will be hosting math games, activities, and challenges for all age levels. Students must be accompanied by an adult family member.
8. The OPPO will be hosting their second annual Petersen Bake Sale. All baked goods should be dropped off at the OPE front office Thursday, May 10th before 3PM. The bake sale will take place during the Family Math Night.
9. Next week we will be starting our MATH SBAC State Assessments. Please ensure that your student gets plenty of sleep so that they are able to do very best work.
10. Be on the lookout for a couple of permission slips. We will be headed to Providence Park for our 6th grade Timber's Field Trip on May 18th. If you are interesting in coming along as a sponsor/chaperone please let me know. First come, first serve.
11. On Wednesday afternoon this week, we will be attending the 4th grade Musical Performance This will cut into a decent portion of our ELA block that day.
